Just in case you missed last week's newsletter, here is a list of events scheduled for this coming weekend. Fingers crossed the weather will stay fair for everyone taking part and there will be lots of great golf played over the four days.
25th Anniversary Weekend Schedule
The weekend kicks off with a three day individual stableford competition starting on Friday, 1 May (Seniors roll up players welcome) through to Sunday, 3 May. This allows five day members to take part on the Friday. Entry is £3, sweep £1, two's £1.
There will be some great prizes on offer for the top six players over the three days, including a first prize of a Custom Fitted PING G30 driver. There will also be a prize for the best Ladies score and best Seniors (over 60) score.
On Bank Holiday Monday, 4 May there is a shotgun start competition, with over one hundred players taking part. This tees off at 10.30am. There may even be a few surprises in store!! There will be a raffle for some great golfing prizes with tickets being sold from this weekend.
All the proceeds from the competition entry money and raffle will be sponsoring me on my London to Paris bike ride in September for the Royal British Legion. A fantastic cause I think you will all agree!
I have managed to bend a few arms and call a few favours in from my suppliers, so I have over £1300 of prizes to play for over the four days and in the region of £800 prizes in the raffle.
The prize giving for all the golfing events will take place on Monday, 4 May at approximately 4pm, followed by the raffle. Let's keep our fingers crossed for some nice sunny weather that will help to make it a weekend to remember.
Sharpen up your shortgame with PING
Do you struggle when you get around the greens? As many as half your shots are played from this area, and as such it is integral that you are confident and happy with your clubs in this department.
We will be offering you the chance to Demo the latest products from PING, with their Cadence putter and GLIDE wedges.
These demo wedges and putters will be at the club for two weeks from today, so make sure you come and have a look whilst you still have the opportunity to do so!
Why not pop in store this weekend and see how we can help to improve your game.
Nine Hole Stableford
There was an interesting finish to the nine hole stableford this week, as it was a tie!
Henry Rawlings and Lee Ollerenshaw scored a very respectable 21 on the front nine. Their scores could not be spilt on a count back due to identical scoring so the competition was declared a tie!
Well done to both of you, it also gave the scorers a bit of a headache!
Men's Drawn Medal
Sunday proved to be a stern test of golf with only one player managing to shoot lower than his handicap. Congratulations to new member Lee Ollerenshaw who secured his first medal win at the club with a three shot winning margin and a score of nett sixty seven. Runner up prize was taken by Adrian Squibb with a nett seventy. Third place went to Jamie Mullen who just pipped Luke Hicks after they both shot nett seventy one's

Ladies Competition Results
The Hayling team played against Petersfield last week. Paula says 'it was a gorgeous day and we won by four games to one'. Much relief all round and a boost to the teams moral. Job done. Well done to Paula Spurrier, Marie Walker, Barbara Simms, Majorie Light, Catherine Davies and supported by caddy Julia Johnson
Flowers and spring colours abounded on Wednesday at the Spring Meeting. The winners were Bett Howard & Betty Kirby with 38 points on countback from Linda Turner & Marie Walker, with Rita Schiefersten & Sue Comfort after both pairs had scored thirty five points. There were also winners on the front nine, back nine and nearest the pin. The raffle raised £150, which is split evenly between the ladies section and the RNLI charity.
Ladies Friendly matches are now underway. On Thursday, a ladies team had a good day at Sandford Springs but lost by three games to one. On Sunday, the team played at home against Dummer and reversed the score by winning by three games to one.
Congratulations to Cheryl Scott, Deirdre Randall and Chris Warman who had a fantastic win on Saturday away to Blackmoor in the North Hants Trophy. Everyone plays off scratch handicap which really tests the nerves. The team are through to the next round.
