COVID-19 Due to the updated advice issued by the government yesterday regarding the Coronavirus, the Board met today to discuss how the Club should move forward. Although the situation is fluid and the government’s daily briefings may mean that advice changes quickly, as things stand, the Club’s current position is as follows: The Course - Unless we receive clear instruction to the contrary, the enjoyment of fresh air and exercise provided by our course will continue to be available for members to stay active. The course will remain fully open. - We would ask members to keep the recommended distance of 2 metres between themselves and their playing partners. - It is recommended that flag sticks remain in the hole and members refrain from handshakes to reduce the risk of contamination and transfer. - The water fountain, ball washers, shoe cleaner and bunker rakes will be taken out of action to further reduce the risk of contamination and transfer. - Although greens staff will rake bunkers in the morning, we ask members to smooth the surface of the sand, as best they can, with their golf club after taking their shot. - At this time, internal Club competitions and matches will continue as planned. The Clubhouse
- All non-essential gatherings in the Clubhouse are to be postponed / cancelled for the time being, including social events, inter-club matches, societies and dining events. - The furniture in the Clubhouse will be placed as far apart as practically possible to increase social distancing and enable members to continue to use the Bar and Catering facilities if they so wish. If the weather is kind to us, the patio is obviously the ideal place for groups to enjoy a drink after their round. - We would advise members who use the Clubhouse to sit in their individual fourball groups, rather than congregating in larger groups. - Tables, chair arms and door handles will be regularly cleaned by the Clubhouse staff. - We will continue to provide a food & beverage service, while staffing availability allows, but there will most likely be a reduction in opening hours. We will keep this under review. - If using the PSI computer to enter your competition scorecard, please use the washroom facilities to wash your hands before and afterwards. The PSI computer will be disinfected periodically. General
- We strongly recommend that all members follow government advice and mandatory measures. - We ask all members not to attend the Golf Club if they, or someone they live with, are showing any symptoms. - Hand sanitiser is increasingly difficult to obtain but, simple handwashing with soap and hot water, for 20 - 30 seconds, is just as effective. We, therefore, ask all members coming into the Clubhouse to wash their hands on arrival and frequently thereafter. Clearly this is a fast moving situation and the Board will continue to react to the information and advice issued by the government. However, our current intention is to continue to provide golf and competitions for our members, until advised otherwise, to enable them to make the most of the season ahead. These are incredibly concerning times for all of us, however, being the strong and friendly Club we are, we have no doubt that by being considerate, following the advice given and applying some common sense, we will all get through this together.
