Leslie White Memorial Trophy – 16th & 17th March Yet again the weather played a part in making life difficult for the players with very strong winds sweeping across the golf course. However one player who revelled in the conditions was Andy Brereton who romped home to win by five points scoring 41 points for the round. Three players then followed on 36 points and after countback it was Les Greatrix who took second place, Les was followed by James Gale in third and Darren Sewell in fourth place. With one sweep position left up for grabs countback was required with four players having shot 35 points. And taking the final sweep position finishing in fifth place, coming back from injury, was Luke Hicks. There were only four two’s recorded from the 96 participants with each two worth £24.00. They were scored by Jeremy Tebbs, Tony Wise, Duncan Syme and Andy Mason.
9 Hole Texas Scramble On Wednesday 13th March there was a 9 hole Texas Scramble which was followed by the Produce Sale. The Winning team comprised of Karin Robey, Marie Walker, Bubs Swann and Jean Rasteiro, with a net score of 24.6. The runners-up with 26.4 were Jackie Keay, Jan Mitchell, Julia Johnson and Eileen Adby. Congratulations to the Winners and Runner-ups. A fantastic £350 was raised with the sale of the produce and this will be split between the Ladies Section and DeafPlus.
An Unfortunate Defeat Unfortunately the Hayling Team lost 4 -1 away to Liphook on Monday. It was a good effort by all who played with a couple of matches going down to the wire on the 18th hole. |
