Battle of Britain The weekend saw a brilliant entry of 131 players supporting the Battle of Britain Trophy. Of course it came as no surprise that the scoring would be of the highest quality. And so it proved with the in-form Mark Pickering amassing a fantastic 44 points to finish in first place. Jamie Mullin put together another good round; now playing off two the young player scored 42 points to finish in second place. Third and fourth places needed countback to separate them with both players scoring 41 points, and it was Clive Pugh who finished third with Chris Smith in fourth place. Nathan Nichols was alone in fifth place with 40 points and countback was needed again to decide the final two sweep positions with three players having scored 39 points. And so it was Lee Irvine that finished in sixth place with Julie Rumsby finishing in seventh position. There were 12 two’s recorded with each two worth £10.50, they were scored by Tony Emmett x 2, Jamie Hobdell, Adam Allerhand, Julie Rumsby, Dave Spence, Lee Wright, David Lince, Nick Wilmot, Tony Davie, Martin Butler and Kevin Speakman.
