Tiger roars again!
Will Tiger Woods make his comeback to tournament golf this week? How will Tiger perform? These were two of the questions posed by the Pro Shop last week, and my, how they were answered.
Sixteen months is a long time to most of us, but for fans of Tiger Woods it has seemed like an eternity. But after a stint as a Ryder Cup Vice-Captain and one aborted comeback, Tiger Woods was finally back in action last week as he hosted the Hero World Challenge. Whilst the field may have been limited to just 18 players it did feature six of the worlds top 10 and 3 Major Champions from 2016.
Four under par going into the back 9 on day one and the golfing world was taking note, this Tiger can still play! Whilst a wayward back nine may have seen him slide down the leader board at the end of the opening day Friday's 65 was certainly something to behold. And when Tiger got to within 2 shots of the lead midway through his round on Saturday the headline writers were sharpening their pencils. Tiger eventually finished 15th but led the field in birdies made and a closing 76 couldn't keep the smile from his face. Tiger had completed 72 holes of competition golf, and perhaps just as notably, with his old Scotty Cameron putter back in the bag, it was like watching the Tiger Woods of the early 2000's on the greens.
Tiger was quick to state that he needed to be "smart" about his comeback schedule but one thing is for certain, whatever schedule he does commit to it will be with Augusta National in mind. Tiger loves The Masters, and The Masters loves Tiger. Augusta is unique in many ways and perhaps no more so in the way a roar echo's around the tall pines and defines the golfing paradise that it is. But at Augusta, the Tiger roar is special and we can't wait to have that roar back in just 4 months time.
If you would like the chance of going to the 2017 Augusta Masters to watch the drama unfold live please come in and talk to me as there is still room for three more people to join this incredible golfing trip.
Welcome back Tiger, we've missed you.
Although Black Friday has ended many of the Special Offers have been carried forward so don't miss out on making some exceptional savings and maybe buying the perfect Christmas present for your golfing partner. Something to also bear in mind is that we can provide you with gift vouchers and tuition vouchers.
December Monthly Stableford
On a fresh December winters' day with a white frost blanketing the course 61 players battled against the difficult playing conditions. However three players coped extremely well scoring 41 points, and had to be separated by countback.
Top of the pile and overall winner was Henrik Conradsen with Division one winner Philip Welch in second place, third place was Division 2 winner Jeremy Fox. In fourth place and last sweep position was Mark Chandler with 39 points.
There were two's recorded by Neil Frost, Ben Cornwell and Geoff Critcher. CSS 71 (36 Stableford Points)
Congratulations to everyone who braved the cold last Wednesday to play in our 'three clubs and a putter' competition!
The winners were:
1st place with 45 points: Val Smith, Rita Schiefersten & Mary Jenkins
2nd place with 44 points: Jenni Ferguson, Sally Solomon & Liz Tomlinson
3rd place with 44 points on count back: Cydney Morgan, Brenda Beales & Barbara Simms (ghost player)
4th place with 33 points: Julie Rumsby, Marie Walker & Renee Floyd
You may have also seen Emma Pearce Molland's 'lost ball on the 9th' competition on Wednesday. For those who missed it, Emma recreated the 9th hole in picture form and ladies had to guess where Cydney's ball had landed. Pam Large correctly guessed that Cyd's ball was under the oak tree on the right; Pam won herself a bottle of Prosecco and a big bar of Toblerone - congratulations Pam.
Christmas Fayre is nearly upon us and the start sheet is up. The format is a Santa (Texas) Scramble over 12 holes. If you need to cancel please let Cydney know as soon as possible so that we can shuffle if necessary. There will be a small prize for the best dressed team and individual on the course.
