I have been talking about it for a few weeks now and a week today it will be with us, yes its Masters time!!
The first major of 2016 and there are a whole host of players in great form and in with a chance. You may remember that Sam, Grahame and myself all made our Masters picks a few weeks ago and we are all sticking with them. Sam choose fellow left hander Phil Mickelson and rank outsider David Lingmerth. Grahame went for two players in great form, Louis Oosthuizen and Danny Willet. I played it safe with Rory McIlroy, who surely has a Masters win in him and Brandon Grace.
One thing is for sure I will be watching with great interest as the drama unfolds. There could be a few late nights golf watching next week.
Good Friday Easter Stableford
Good Friday turned out to be the jewel in the Easter crown where the weather was concerned. With warm spring sunshine the day was set for some good scoring. Neil Solomon and Gary Howard took advantage of the conditions to tie at the top of the leaderboard with 40 points. Neil was awarded first place on countback, with Gary having to settle for runner up spot. Third place went to Paul Dickinson who scored 39 points.
March Medal The beautiful weather of Good Friday had long gone and storm Katie was waiting in the wings to disrupt the rest of the Easter golfing programme. Saturday morning dawned and it was time for the members to compete in testing conditions for the
March Monthly Medal.
High winds to start the day proved a challenge and the later starters also had rain to deal with. A countback was needed to separate four players after they had all scored nett 71. Congratulations to
Andy Morgan who took first place. Second place went to
Marcus Lillington and third place was last years captain
Phillip Welch. It was unlucky
Steve Randall who missed out on a top three finish.
