Where have the last 12 months gone? It does not seem that long ago that I was celebrating my 25th anniversary as Club Professional at Hartley Wintney at the start of May. What a great four day weekend of events we had. Here we are now well into December with Christmas only eight days away and I am writing the last newsletter of 2015.
We have much to look forward to in 2016 as the club celebrates its 125th anniversary. I would like to take this opportunity, along with the rest of the Pro Shop team, to say a huge thank you for all your support in 2015. I would also like to wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas and a happy and good golfing new year.

Christmas Fayre Competition
The last big golfing event of 2015 at the club took place over last weekend. After watching the weather forecast all of last week things did not look good, especially for the Saturday players with strong winds and rain forecast. Somehow the Hartley Wintney micro-climate managed to come up trumps and prove the forecasters wrong by giving us a dry and mild two days.
As always the competition was very well supported. It turned out to be a weekend of very good scoring with 10 of the teams finishing in the nett 50s. Saturday's pacesetters were the team of Peter Lawrence, Andrew Udensi, Hardeep Sehmi and Ed Joinson with an excellent score of nett 56.80. Would it be good enough to win?
Sunday's players enjoyed a slightly less breezy day and this showed as the low scores started to come in. The outstanding score of the weekend came from the team of Luke Hicks, Bradley Walsh, Jerry Andrews and Kevin Speakman who posted nett 54.05 to win the competition. The runners up team were Peter Lawrence, Andrew Udensi, Hardeep Sehmi and Ed Joinson, nett 56.80. Third place team Neil Solomon, James May, Duncan Syme and Mick Davies, nett 57.35. Fourth place team Steve Parker, John Parker, Paul De Noronha and David Parker.
A special mention must also go to Steve Doyle for achieving his first hole in one on the third hole on the Sunday.
December Seniors Stableford
The last seniors stableford of 2015 attracted a good turnout last Friday, 11 December. There was some excellent scoring considering the weather conditions. Congratulations to Clive Pappadakis on his winning score of 42 points. Michael Palmer finished in second place with 40 points. Keith Morris was third on 39 points.
Ladies News
Margaret Pesquero was the star of last week, scoring 21 points in the 9 hole stableford competition and achieving a handicap reduction of 1.5.
Ladies 18 Hole Stableford
Congratulations to the winners of the divisions in the 18 hole Stableford played on Wednesday, 9 December, Division one Julie Rumsby, 33 points. Division two Catherine Davies, 30 points. Division three Brenda Beals, 25 points.
