Competition News The Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend kicked off a very busy month at the club, starting with the Centenary Medal. This coming weekend the Club Championship takes place over Saturday and Sunday. Many of our low handicap players will be feeling they have a great chance of winning in what looks to be a very open field. Good luck to all the competitors in both the nett and scratch events. The weekend of the 16th and 17th June sees the second round of the Churchill Cup on the Saturday and then Peter Curtis hosts his Captain's Day on the Sunday with an 8.00am shotgun start. On Sunday 24th June the Charity Pro-Am takes place, which is always a very busy day. This year we look to have one of the strongest fields of Professionals for many years. Even if you are not taking part in the event, it may well be worth coming down to the club as a spectator to see how the Pros cope with the course, which is in fantastic condition at the moment. Let's hope the summer weather returns and we see some great golf played over these events.
Centenary Medal Well done to Keith Mullin on winning the Centenary Medal played over last weekend. The event attracted a field of 103 players. Keith shot a nett sixty-five to win the competition by two shots. Rob Hunt finished in runner up place with a nett sixty-seven, one shot ahead of third place Michael Robey on nett sixty eight. There were only eight two's recorded, giving a very healthy return of £12.12 each.

Jamie Mullin made it a family double during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations with his win in the stableford played on Tuesday 5th June. Jamie, son of Keith who won the Centenary Medal, is one of our up and coming Juniors. He carded a fantastic forty-four points which left him six points clear of the field. Runner up spot went to Fred Lewis on thirty-eight points, beating Keith Morris into third place on countback.
Coronation Cup Mixed Competition
The Coronation Cup mixed competition, aptly played on Jubilee Bank Holiday Monday, saw Steve and Deirdre Randall hit form as they scored forty-one points to win the competition. Runners up were Alan and Lynne Betchley just one point further back with forty points. Third place was won on countback by James Hodges and Marie Walker with thirty-nine points.
