Watts Cup Competition play was back to normal last weekend with the Watts cup being played over the normal course. The sun even made a rare appearance! Congratulations to Eddie Holland on his winning score of nett sixty eight, playing off two handicap. Eddie's round was made up of a great front nine holes of four under par and then par's all the way to the sixteenth where he dropped a shot. He then had a slight wobble at the seventeenth making double bogey. Eddie then got his game back on track with a solid par at the last. Tom Vinall, who is in great form at the moment, followed last week's win with runner up spot, just beating David Brown on countback after both had scored nett sixty nine's.
Seniors Niblick The Seniors Niblick was played over Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th, and Monday 14th May. James Trueman set the pace early on Saturday morning with a score of forty one points. His score stood strong at the top of the leader board with no one able to match it over the three days. Well done to Jim. Seasoned campaigner Brian Broderick took runner up spot on thirty eight points. Third place went to Keith Powell who scored thirty seven points. One man with a smile on his face will be Ray Cullen who scored the only two of the competition to scoop the two's pot of £21.00.

Ladies May Medal
The Ladies played their May Medal on Wednesday 9th May. Once again the poor Spring weather played its part as the competition attracted a slightly smaller field than normal. Congratulations to Brigitte Cullen on winning the Silver division with a score of nett seventy eight, Enid Tait on winning the Bronze division with a nett seventy eight and Emma Pearce-Molland who won the Copper division with a nett seventy one.
Ladies Stonham Cup Team
Our Ladies were in action in their third consecutive away match at Botley Park last week. Unfortunately they could not quite keep their winning streak going, narrowly losing four matches to three, but with home fixtures coming up hopefully I will be reporting some wins.
Seniors Matches
On Friday 11th May and with a promising weather forecast our seniors section visited Petersfield Golf Club to play the first leg of our annual friendly. Congratulations to all the gentlemen who played, delivering a resounding 6 to 2 victory. A fitting birthday present for the Seniors Captain. Let's hope we can keep it up.
On a rainy Monday 14th May our Seniors section entertained Alresford GC Seniors for our annual friendly match at home. We managed the conditions rather well and came away with a 5 and 3 victory, the weather brightening up just as the last four balls came home. Thank you to all the Seniors who played in this match, a big thank you to Matt and his men for giving us a playable course and last, but not least, thanks to Stuart and his team for feeding us with an excellent meal. The winning roll continues, or have I spoken to soon! (Tony Patton)
Regards,
Martin
